Come join us for a very special show with Psychic Ills, Images, & Alan Watts. The Psychic Ills are NYC art-rock veterans who the Village Voice named the best psychedelic band in New York for 2006. This will be their tour kickoff show before they head west for SXSW. Big Snow will provide the most intimate show experience to see the band for quite some time to come so don't miss out. Joining the bill will be Images who have been roaming around the nyc experimental diy scene for a while now & have recently released their newest full-length Know What I Mean & are prepping an upcoming 7" due out shortly. If that is not enough Alan Watts will be getting the night started with their particular brand of space-rock as they begin to prep for the next album.

Happy to announce that Images newest release Know What I Mean is available today and ready to order. We've definitely been hyping the album for a bit in these parts and for good reason! To mark the occasion we're offering a limited stream of the album available now. Beyond all the digital confusion we have also made up a special art-edition cassette version of the album. We've outdone ourselves with this one and look forward to continuing the trend.
Images have a been hard at work prepping new material and have some other releases on the horizon. Those in Brooklyn can also catch Images later this week (Feb 2nd) at Death By Audio for their album release show with Woodsman, Hubble, & Man Forever.

Images - "Not Peeking"
Images album Know What I Mean is being co-released by AMDISCS & our extended record label self at Last Nights Records one week from today (it being Tuesday Jan. 24th, the album will be available on cassette/digitally Jan 31st). As such it seems time to share another track from the album, this time it is the lysergically infused "Not Peeking".
With former member Kai Lord-Farmer's vocals taking center stage the songs takes cues from contemporary indie music while also harkening back to the duo's passion for world music. Lord-Farmer in particular is able to display some fantastic call & response vocal maneuvers that may be influenced more or less by his musical heritage (his step-father being drumming instructor who immigrated into the US from Guinea). While at the same instance swirling wah-wah inflected guitars stream throughout the recordings adding a hallucinogenic atmosphere to the overall proceedings.
Images Know What I Mean is available via Last Nights Records (cassette) & AMDISCS (digital) Jan 31st. For those in New York Last Nights also curated a show Images will be playing that is a record release-esque show Feb. 2nd at Death by Audio with Woodsman, Hubble, & Man Forever.

Images - "Where You Are Now"
We're happy to announce "Where You Are Now" the lead track from Images forthcoming album titled Know What I Mean. The group recorded/mixed the album late this past spring after a busy 2011 filled with shows that saw the duo share stages with MV & EE, Soft Circle, & Spectre Folk to name a few. "Where You Are Now" sees them operating at surprising levels of clarity and accessibility for the cloudy headed psychedelic concoctions offered up in the past. As this lead track demonstrates Images aren't afraid of stepping into the light, sounding almost indie-rock while they're at it. The cleanliness of the sound itself is attributed to the live nature of the recordings, in which few overdubs were undertaken in order leaving the raw live band sound in tact. The bounce of it all makes it perfect to add some energy in the bleak days of winter ahead.
"Where You Are Now" is available now straight from the band's bandcamp site as a free download. Be sure to look out for more info on Images and the upcoming full-length Know What I Mean this January here via the Last Nights Records imprint & AMDISCS.

Happy to announce an upcoming Last Nights show this Monday, November 21st at Death By Audio in Brooklyn, NY. The night will see Spectre Folk, Colin L. Orchestra, & Images hit the stage for a special night of some laid back psychedelic jammers.
Pete Nolan (aka Spectre Folk) and his band have been on a winning streak as of the last year or so. The band's ferocious appetite for playing out as often as possible has seen Spectre Folk grow into a live band not to be missed around Brooklyn and New York as a whole, which can be a city gorged with talent. If one is to combine the live show with their recorded output of Nolan/the band then it becomes obvious why Fader called them a "New York supergroup".
Some may know Colin Langenus from his time as one half of USAISAMONSTER but his work with the Orchestra is a different matter. Justin Farrar wrote for the Village Voice that the Colin L. Orchestra are "big band that produces a cloudy blend of classic rock, country folk, and Rhys Chatham-inspired minimalism." Letting their hair way down the group loosely work their way the tunes at hand allowing some inspiration to lead the way.
Though keeping a low profile in recent memory Images will be making a special appearance. The show is set to be the first live show since playing Creepy Teepee in the Czech Republic this past summer and haven't played NY since this past spring, which coincidentally also with Spectre Folk. A new album titled Know What I Mean, created as a duo version of the group, has recently been finished with it's release details TBA.

MV & EE - April Flower Tour Boxset
MV & EE have announced the release of their newest boxset the April Flower Tour. For those not familiar with the duo's penchant for live tour anthologies (such as the No Floor Tour or Road Trips) this is an event that is usually immediately exciting or at the least a curious venture. This one is released in a more personal homegrown fashion, being released on the duo's imprint Heroine. To get all biases out in the open, two of the eight discs contained in this release were organized by Last Nights, though to these eyes that just makes the release all th sweeter.

The April Flower Tour box contains jams that see Matt & Erika joined by some rad folks during their time on the road. First and foremost the addition of Mick Flower (of UK underground legends Vibracathedral Orchestra and his own solo material) and transformation into a trio sees the group able to open up and improvise within the compositions. This form of improv is no small deed coming from these folks as each have spent their careers exploring such avenues. Some shows also see the contributions from Woods main man Jeremy Earl, underground's favorite avant-percussion darling Chris Corsano, and two usual suspects to the MV & EE scene Harmonica Dan & Willie Lane.

Silk Flowers disband & Shea Stadium live set
Impose have announced that Silk Flowers have disbanded. The trio leave in their wake a slew a recordings in the past few years, including the most recent posthumous release of Days of Arrest on Captured Tracks. Now in the apparent afterglow live jewels, such as this full-set from their record release party for their final full-length LTD. Form back in February at Shea Stadium. The night, curated by none other than Last Nights, also saw Mazing Vids, Soft Circle, & Images hit the stage for what was a pretty spectacular time of music & good vibes.
The last few nights over here have been rad. MV & EE were in town with Mick Flower (Vibracathedral Orchestra, Flower-Corsano) in tow bringing some positive vibes and getting this spring off to a great start. Last Nights was proud to present the trio along with Spectre Folk, Images, & Jefferson High at Death By Audio (Brooklyn, NY) Friday (4/8) night, and hey what would you know It was a lot of fun and we'd like to thank everyone involved MV & EE, Mick Flower, Pete & Pete from Spectre Folk, Edan at DBA, Jared Jolly for making the rad flyer, & everyone who came out!
Make sure to check the trio out on the rest of their April Flower Tour. Last Nights will also be doing some other rad shows in the future so keep your eyes open.

After kicking off the last Nights blog & organizing Silk Flowers record release party this past February (That long ago already!), I was thinking of who to ask for the next show. As luck would have it one of Last Nights favorites MV & EE were going on tour in the spring, that is it begins today Monday 4/4/11!
Throughout their career MV & EE have released countless albums through the likes of Ecstatic Peace, Time-Lag, not even to mention their own label(s) Child Of Microtones & Heroine Celestial Agriculture. All the while brewing the most own unique take folk & psych-rock out there. They'll be touring around their new LP coming out on Three Lobed/Blatant Obviousness this May. The appropriately titled, Country Stash sees the duo in full band action accompanied by a great cast that includes Mick Flower, Jeremy Earl (of Woods), among others. The album finds them in familiar territory once again, yet this time a little more fermentation has resulted in a great batch of tunes begging to be heard.
They'll be accompanied by Mick Flower on this tour which they've dubbed the April Flower Tour. Mick Flower, who hails from the UK, is a fantastic musician whose work deserves some mentioning in its own right. Readers may be familiar with his work in Vibracathedral Orchestra, or his own solo material as Michael Flower, to name just a few of the projects he's been involved with.
Spectre Folk also graciously agreed to play making this one a dual headliner of sorts. The group, Pete Nolan's (of Magik Markers) solo project, have just released The Blackest Medicine Vol. II on Jeremy Earl's Woodsist records. With a full band in tow (that includes members of Sonic Youth & Tall Firs) Nolan's tunes are more upbeat & melodic than ever. There is definitely a classic country-psych vibe to the while ordeal. I saw them at their 1st record release show the other day & can attest to the live prowess of this group right now. I think that make this show Spectre Folk's Record Release Vol. II. Can't wait
Images will also be playing this evening. The NY duo have been busy recently releasing an ep "The 60's Sound" through Last Nights & have been announced to play the Creepy Teepee Festival at the GASK Museum of Fine Arts, in the Czech Republic (along with Liars, R. Stevie Moore, & Xiu Xiu to name a few). People tend to say stuff like psych-drone & mention something about tribal drumming & layered guitar noise. But really there are some golden pop moments, which will be showcased on their next release due out this fall.
While finally Jefferson High will rounding out the evening. A three piece group that have a driving rock approach wrapped inside some retro doo-wop sheen. The group have recently released an album through their American Buffalo Recordings.
